What’s something about you that doesn’t come across in photos or on stage?

I am highly empathetic and incredibly soft. I have been told I have a fierce or intimidating look, and while that may be true, I actually am the biggest softie. My heart is terribly moved by the littlest suffering in others and I tend to feel people’s pain deeply.

What personal experience has influenced the way you see the world?

Moving from Nigeria at the young age of 16 had a huge impact on me culturally. I went from seeing the world one way to now carrying a world view that fuses multiple cultural lenses especially being in a multicultural country like Canada.

​

What motivates you when no one is watching?

Building a better world for me, my family, and those around me. We’re all going to die one day so beyond that, also leaving behind a better world for the generations to come.

​

What advice would you give your younger self?

You are the most beautiful, kind, and strong girl I know; never forget that, even more, never forget that reflecting a character that leaves people and the world better than you found them.

​

What does leadership look like in your day-to-day life?

Service, always, in all ways. Advocacy: speaking up loudly for what is right and against what is wrong; especially on behalf of those that may not be able to for themselves.

 

If there were no limitations, what would your ideal or “dream” career look like?

In a perfect world, we would live communally and in peace with each other, without oppression, sickness, or prejudice, so all that would be left for me is music, and arts, and entertainment.

• Community engagement officer with Black In Saskatchewan: a non profit championing representation of, advocacy for, and empowerment of Black peoples in Saskatchewan.

What kind of impact do you hope to make through Miss International Canada?

Outside being the face for multiculturalism and diversity, which is a pillar of Canadian society. I hope to be heavily involved in community service, volunteering, devoting my time and presence to serving communities in need around Canada. I also hope to continue to use my voice in advocacy against sexism and racism as I have done in the past.

What does representing Canada mean to you?

I believe in a Canadian future that stands on pillars of reconciliation, multiculturalism and diversity, recognizing the pitfalls of the past, and the importance of progress for the future. In representing Canada, I hope to bring us closer to that colourful future, while celebrating and taking pride in all the beauty that we are today.
